Naruko Anjou (Anaru)
AnoHana: The Flower We Saw That Day
Status: Retired
Cost: ~$50
Thrifted and worn in summer 2013
AnoHana is still one of my favorite anime I've watched. And it's my number one show about grief--how people grieve differently, and how losing a loved one affects you for the rest of your life. This show affected me deeply. I had dreamed about getting a group together for this, but by the time I got around to this costume, my college friends and I were moving away. I ended up retiring the costume within a year. I unfortunately never got pictures of the wig once I added the star hairties to it.
I reused an old button-up shirt I had, but I made the ribbon and the skirt.
My favorite part of this costume is definitely the wig. Children stopped me to ask for photos because they liked the hair! And I adore the color of it.
